World Mental Health Day

It’s Okay Not to be Okay.

Yesterday was World Mental Health day and with everything happening in Barbados, I was more than happy to take a few moments yesterday to enjoy the sound of the pouring rain on my roof. Talk about some therapy!

But what is mental health?

Mental health speaks to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Mental health has an impact on and is affected by how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. It is just as important as physical health and the absence of physical illness, at every stage of life. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
